Point Carbon buys Perspectives to become carbon project powerhouse
Independent expertise offered through the carbon project chain

Point Carbon, the global provider of independent news, analysis and consulting services for the power, gas and carbon markets, announced today that it has acquired worldleading carbon offset market specialist Perspectives GmbH, based in Zurich, Switzerland and Hamburg, Germany..
The acquisition brings together the leading global experts on carbon offsetting projects (Clean Development Mechanism, Joint Implementation and voluntary offsets) and significantly strengthens Point Carbon’s ability to offer advisory and subscription services to customers along the whole offset project value chain.
Both companies will be fully independent from the carbon markets. Perspectives is one of the few service providers that manages greenhouse gas reduction projects and develops Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint implementation (JI) methodologies without being a proprietary buyer. Project types range from energy
efficiency and renewable energy to forestry and agricultural activities. Perspectives’ expertise comes from on hands-on experience, in-depth project insights and superior scientific and academic background and rigour.
Following the acquisition, Perspectives will no longer source and broker CDM projects, ensuring total independence in terms of the advisory services it offers. “This acquisition enables Point Carbon to deliver advisory services covering all elements of the offset project development value chain, and will particularly improve our due diligence and transaction support services as well as those subscription products which focus on the offsets markets. We will also greatly improve our outreach to German- and French-speaking clients”, said Per-Otto Wold, CEO of Point Carbon “Point Carbon’s leading risk, policy and financial analysis combined with its worldleading databases of projects and transactions will complement our current offering, creating a broader and more complete outreach for existing as well as new customers.
