New hire consolidates Point Carbon’s global advisory services

Point Carbon, the leading provider of market intelligence, news, analysis, forecasting and advisory services for the energy and environmental markets, announced today that it has hired Nelson Sam to oversee all advisory operations globally and further raise Point Carbon Advisory’s services around the world. Nelson Sam will join Point Carbon’s Advisory department as Managing Director, based in Point Carbon’s London office.

Sam has extensive experience within the strategic consulting and investment advisory sectors of the renewables, energy-efficiency, carbon, power and gas markets. Speaking about the hire, Per-Otto Wold, CEO of Point Carbon, said “I believe Nelson Sam will be
able to build on the positive trend we have seen in advisory this year and take this part of our business to the next level”.

Sam has many years’ experience of working in top-level consultancies. He moves to Point Carbon from Ernst & Young, where he was the Assistant Director of Energy and Environmental Infrastructure Advisory. Previously, he was responsible for initiating and developing the analytical team working on the Global Carbon Abatement Cost Curve Project at McKinsey & Co and he was a Project Scientist leading weather and climate risk and disaster management projects at IRD, India.

Commenting on his new position, Sam said, “This position gives me an excellent opportunity to bring my experience of working with European, US and Asian energy clients to Point Carbon’s Advisory department with a view to building Point Carbon’s global advisory services around the world.
