Carbon-emitting power output in big EU states falls 2.8 pct

Fossil fuel-fired electricity generation in 13 EU member states fell nearly 3 percent in 2011, suggesting overall carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme slipped last year as Europe struggled to revive its recession-ravaged economy.
