In this month's Focal Point article, we highlight key market and policy events so far this year, and provide our estimates for the traded volume in global carbon markets, as well as the value of these transactions. We cover all compliance-based carbon trading systems across the globe, comprising the EU ETS, CDM, JI, AAU, RGGI, NZ ETS and California markets. We also count trades under the New South Wales Greenhouse Gas Abatement Schme and compliance and pre-compliance offsets in North America.
