The Power Market Trader Nord Pool was launched in 1998. The service is aimed at traders and analysts active in the Nordic power market. The service provides continuous weather forecast data, which is converted to precipitation energy and consumption. Every morning a daily market analysis is published with recommendations for the development in the financial market and next day’s spot price. We publish a weekly fundamental forecast for the next two years based on the SDDP model for the Nordic market developed by our strategic partner PSR in co-operation with Point Carbon. Every week, we also publish a joint report with the PMT EEX estimating the prices for the coming week. Twice a year we publish a seasonal price forecast. The service includes weather comments, weekly reports, technical analysis and fuel prices, in addition to a large downloadable section with continuously updated feeds.
Point Carbon Power & Gas receives weather forecasts from both the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (UK) and the Global Forecasting System (US), in addition to local weather models such as Hirlam. The information is analysed by our own in-house meteorological experts, run through our models and published on our internet pages with minimum delay. In addition to the 10-15 day weather forecasts presented several times a day, we publish a monthly forecast once a week.
Our daily analysis is published over the internet every morning before the trading day starts and is updated continuously throughout the day. We check the accuracy of our predictions against benchmarks which are available for our customers to review
